About Carol

I am the owner of Ravenheart Farms Equine Assisted Learning Centre & Retreat and “Lead Mare” here at Ravenheart Farms. My qualifications include being a Certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator, Certified Life Coach, Voice Dialogue facilitator and Reiki practitioner. I have a life-long passion for horses.  My path to the “Ravenheart way” with horses began with my first horse, Raven, who came into my life when I turned 40. I was “horse crazy” as long as I can remember, and although somewhere deep down I knew I’d have a horse some day and live in the country, at the time I couldn’t see how it was possible. My dream horse was the Welsh Cob. Raven was a Sec. C Welsh Pony of Cob Type. I found many ways to surround myself with horses, including via my dream job as Media Coordinator at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, where I loved every minute of those 8.5 years. I can still remember the elation I felt being paid for work I was so “over the top” excited to be doing.

The Ravenheart Way

It truly was the experience of a lifetime with too many highlights to count, although one of them was being in the presence of people with such incredible vision, passion, creativity, dedication, and worldwide recognition for brilliance overall…hospitality, business, commerce, sport, and global partnerships. A friend who had purchased Raven, along with his full brother, Arthur, convinced me that I could certainly have a horse, and then patiently showed me how. Our journey together started with figuring out how to best communicate with each other. Although it seemed I had a “lifetime” of horse experience, caring for a horse of my own was a huge learning curve. I made lots of mistakes, although now, after many years, I trust myself a lot more. I have had wonderful teachers & mentors along the way. I have learned something valuable from all of them, and by combining their teachings, I have created the “Ravenheart Way.” I would love for You to have the opportunity to experience first hand, the “Ravenheart Way” and the magic of working with horses.

The Story Behind Raven Horse Wisdom Life Coaching

This name came to me not long after my beloved 22-year-old Welsh Cob, Raven, passed away. He had been a significant “teacher” since the day he came into my life when he was 7 years old. Raven had experienced trauma at the hands of a rough trainer, so I needed to find a way to work with him and gain his trust. Although I thought that I was teaching him along the way, he was really teaching me. He led me to explore and discover new, positive, and gentle ways of training and being with horses. His fear challenged me to become more self-aware and congruent while working with him. Along the way, I found so many wonderful teachers and became a certified Equine Assisted Learning Specialist. Raven worked with many individuals and groups at Ravenheart Farms, and he was a brilliant, trust-worthy, dedicated, and connected teacher, especially with youth at risk. A young artist, Vanessa Bachynsky, inspired the Raven Horse Wisdom logo of a winged horse. Raven has surely earned his angel wings!
